The Fellowship
Children’s Hospital Boston, with
350 beds, is one of the largest pediatric medical
centers in North America. Our Pediatric Radiology
Fellowships include training in all aspects of pediatric
imaging.
Our department provides seven to nine fellows each year
with broad clinical experience and many opportunities to
participate in clinical, basic and health services
research. We offer extensive academic support through
two libraries and our own research librarian, and
research facilities in the neighboring Kresge Laboratory
for Pediatric Imaging Research and the John F. Enders
Pediatric Research Laboratories building.
The first year of fellowship is fully accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME),
and an elective second year is available for general and
subspecialty training. During the first year, all
interpretations by fellows are reviewed by a staff
radiologist to allow significant on-the-job learning and
teaching. During the second year, the fellows are
appointed junior faculty with the opportunity for
independent work and teaching.
Each year the radiology fellows choose a faculty member to receive the prestigious John A. Kirkpatrick Teaching Award. Winners include current faculty members Carlo Buonomo, MD, Susan A. Connolly, MD, N. Thorne Griscom, MD, Paul K. Kleinman, MD, Robert L. Lebowitz, MD, and Laureen M. Sena, MD.
Michael J. Callahan, MD, chief of the Computed
Tomography (CT) Division, is director of the fellowship
program.
George A. Taylor, MD, is radiologist-in-chief and
the John A. Kirkpatrick Professor of Radiology.
