Pediatric Radiology

Excellent clinical care and superb, relevant teaching are two goals of our department. The curriculum for the first year of the fellowship includes:

• conventional radiology (plain films and fluoroscopy)
• ultrasound
• body CT
• cardiovascular/interventional radiology
• MRI
• neuroradiology
• nuclear medicine/PET

Fellows have a chance to participate in and lead weekly departmental and interdepartmental conferences, and there is a daily teaching conference each morning and many afternoons.

Opportunities for clinical and basic research in all the subspecialties are available, encouraged and supported. During rotations through the reading room, fellows are typically scheduled for a half-day to a full day of research time. Fellows are paid at a standard, hospital-determined rate for the first year and at the junior faculty level for the second. The chief fellow receives an additional administrative stipend.

Fellows also have the option of remaining for a second year, when they work for six months as junior faculty and are given six months of elective time to pursue their own interests.

Requirements: Candidates must have passed all three parts of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and must be board certified or board qualified in diagnostic radiology. Foreign medical graduates must possess a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate to apply for a Massachusetts medical license.
