Teaching and Research
The Department of Radiology has a $4.5 million research program headed by Research Director Faina Shtern, MD, a radiologist who has held leadership positions at the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Institute, and the Office on Womens Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Shtern and Radiologist-in-Chief George A. Taylor have created an infrastructure that supports faculty members in their research.
The faculty are engaged in a number of investigations that seek to bridge the gap between pediatric radiology research and the best adult radiology investigations.
The research program includes a wide variety of investigations into the best ways to image various conditions in infants, children, and fetuses. A sampling of faculty research projects can be seen here.
